Less than two weeks to go until Christmas Day and yet it is still busy at NTC with new business calls to make, contracts to sign and cards to post (yes, I still do that).
With 2018 looking exciting and full of opportunities I am already starting my planning and this includes scheduling blog posts that put businesses like yours, in the spotlight.
Today, Lisa Phillips, the founder of ‘Amazing Coaching‘ takes that spot and I have a feeling you are going to be interested in what she has to say.
I am the founder of ‘Amazing Coaching‘ and specialise in assisting individuals and organisations with confidence, resilience and self esteem. I am also the author of ‘ The Confidence Coach‘. ( Exile 2015) I am also a professional speaker and am lucky enough to be a regular speaker on cruise ships which I love!
When living in Australia, I decided to get into coaching when my own life was falling apart. I was being bulled at work and was also in a toxic relationship. I signed up with a coach for a coaching session and then decided to retrain ( I was an accountant!). I founded Amazing Coaching over 18 years ago and my business has gone from strength to strength. In Australia, my was featured extensively in the media and I often appeared as an expert on TV. However, I moved back to the UK in 2017 so it feels like I am having to start all over again!
Who is your target audience and how do you communication with them?
I specialise in self esteem and confidence but work with anyone who has a desire to feel better about themselves. Most of my work comes from referrals but I also keep people up to date on what I do via social media and email. Having just returned to Northamptonshire, I have also been running some free confidence workshops for the local community,
What are the main challenges you face.
Currently, gettting myself seen in the UK market! I feel like a start up again! In Australia, I worked with universities and both private and public organisations so I am currently making sure I am in a good place to attract the opportunities that I desire.
What is your USP?
Life is supposed to feel good to you but many of us have just got used to feeling bad. It really doesn’t have to be difficult to create a life that feels great to you. I make people laugh while owning their own crap.
Who would be your business mentor and why?
Esther Hicks. I am a huge fan of the work of Abraham Hicks and would love to have a one on one sessions totally tailored to me!
If you could appear in any publication, what would it be and why?
Oprah Magazine – my work is fun and leading edge and it would feel great to be acknowledged by this magazine.
What words of wisdom can you give anyone thinking about starting their own business?
If it feels good do it. Trust your gut and don’t listen to what anyone else says. When you start your own business, people want to give you their experience. If the advice makes you feel good then, maybe listen. If it doesn’t , don’t. You create your own experiences.
How do you keep a work life balance going?
Or do you? I believe in working smarter not harder so I only tend to do things that make me feel good. If I am tired, I take a nap. Work life balance is about caring enough about how you feel to put yourself and your own needs first. Also, don’t take action unless it feels good – inspired action is always better and it leaves you feeling energised rather than drained.
Who or what inspires you?
People inspire me – as a society, we really know so little about each other but I am lucky enough to be able to connect deeply with people though my work. Really, every one of us is fantastic – but we just don’t believe it ourselves.
What is your perfect day off?
My perfect day off is alone in the house with a good book and my cat. I am a mad cat lady – I even brought my own cat back to the UK with me from Australia so I love a little bit of downtime with a good book. I am also a bit of an introvert so love my alone time.
Have a great week and if you would like to be featured he, do get in touch.
